About us

Brian Mee formed the company in 1977 along with his wife June. Brian craved a different challenge after working at Pretty Polly and several dyehouses in the Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire areas.

In 1980, Brian's 2 sons Ian and Andrew joined the business working in the dyehouse and winding departments respectively. Andrew's unique ability to strip and repair machinery soon led to him taking over the maintance of the plant. In 1985, Ian's wife Jackie and Andrew's wife Sue both joined the business. Ian and Andrew became equal share holders and the business moved to its current location on Hamilton road. In due course, Brian's 2 younger sons also joined the business, James in 1990 and Jonathan in 1994. Father and sons all working together.

On 24th November 1995, Brian passed away at the age of 56yrs. It was a sad loss of a well respected man. Many people commented on what a character he was, confirming what we already knew. One guy said very recently, that when he retires, he will write a book of his own exploits in the textile industry and Brian would feature in over half of it.

Thanks to a loyal customer, supplier and staff base, Andrew's knowledge of maintenance and yarn processing and Ian's yarn dyeing and unique management style ensured that, along with a strong work ethic and help from Jackie and June, the business still thrives today.
